Gaussian instrument function

\[\frac{1}{\sigma \sqrt{2\pi}} \exp\left(-\frac{x^2}{{2\sigma}^2}\right)\]

Parameters:

• sigma (Quantity, optional) – The parameter sigma, the standard deviation of the gaussian. must be given in units of energy or frequency.

• fwhm (Quantity, optional) – The full width half maximum of the distribution.

Raises:

TypeError if neither sigma nor fwhm are given. –
